international artist-in-residence program in rural Finland

The appreciation of the effort of Marja de Jong is very clear.
Already in 2003 the Lions Club of Haukivuori has nominate her for her effort to save the Saksala building.
Etelä-Savon and Suomen Kulttuurirahasto were awarding grants to create artistic and cultural programs and projects in Saksala.
In 2008 the Haukivuoren Aluejohtokunta and the Yrittäjäyhdistyksen were selecting Marja de Jong for her work on Saksalanharju and the meaning of this work for Haukivuori and surrounding as the Vuoden 2008 Haukivuorelaiseksi.
