international artist-in-residence program in rural Finland

In small villages in the rural areas of Europe it is important for young people to get in contact with other parts of Europe. Everywhere exchange programs are in progress to bring different groups together and exchange between schools is very popular these days.

The local school in Haukivuori is already active with some schools in other parts of Europe and art centre Saksala ArtRadius has participate in some programs during these exchanges.

The art center is interested to develop an artistic component in the exchanges. Through art, music, theater etc it is possible to build on collective experiences with the possibility of e.g. a presentation, performance.

In 2009 a new way of exchange has been started, focused on colleges which have special art and music programs in their curriculum. Koning Willem II College - Tilburg - the Netherlands is the first school participating in this program.
