The area of Saksalanharju has been cultivated very early in Finnish
history.
After the glacial period biggest monolith of Europe was rising up out of the ice. This part was very fruitful and
people were starting to settle and cultivate it.
In the beginning of the 20th century Saksala was a huge area were many
people were living and working.
The Russian admiral Hjalmar von Bonsdorff was in that time the owner
and sold the property in 1913 to the municipal of Haukivuori.
