After a long trip by train, plane and train the group arrived on Tuesday evening. The first introduction with Finnish culture was the dinner, served by Susanna Salokaarto, a Finnish teacher in Koning Willem II college.

This first visit is an exploration of the possibilities for a future program.

On Wednesday morning the bus picked up the the group and their instruments to visit the school in Haukivuori. The music teacher of the school and the music teacher of the Dutch college cooperate in the music lesson. Both groups used their instruments and were studying a Finnish song. After the lessen Berrie Kolmans studied with the group a gospel.

The exchange is not only an experience for the pupils, but also for the teacher. To know each other, to see what is possible, how to arrange the contacts are important parts of the first meeting.

Anna Toljamo is the teacher of Ylä-Aste who coordinates, who listens and who involves the pupils of the school in the contacts.

Making music together is using a universal language to understand each other. Listen to the music, singing together and also try to get it harmonious is working together, making contact through the sound.

After the joint music lesson Berrie Kolmans has continued with the Dutch group to study a gospel. The enthusiasm of the singing has been very inviting.

In the English lessons the Finnish youngsters have made an excursion through the village and after the music lessons they guide the Dutch youngsters through their own village.
