The meaning of this artistic and cultural exchange for young people.
This week was a trial and has been showing that through art and music it
is possible to start new forms of co-operation and exchange. he program has
had different elements, like lessons in the school, lessons in the music
school, art and vocal workshops, information about the village, nature
experiences, music studies and composition, a performance.
The program was based on practical and active participation of the
youngsters. The contact with the youngsters from Haukivuori has been
realized in different ways. Visiting the school, visiting Saksala ArtRadius
and together in Alic.
Living in a small village in the rural area is complete different than
in an urban area like Tilburg in the Netherlands. To have the experience
with the space, the silence and also with the attitude of Finnish people in
this rural area has a high value. The music was all the time the
intermediary and with future exchanges this can develop in an own specific
way.
A part of the stay is also valuable as a retreat, there are no
external stimuli, there is only the group and the music and it works
perfect.
With the program we will continue, develop the content and strengthen
the contacts between the youngsters.
Thanks to all the participants, pupils and teachers from Koning Willem
II college and from Ylä-Aste Haukivuori.
