open fields in art centre Saksala ArtRadius
On Saturday August 12 there will be an exiting evening in the fields of art centre Saksala ArtRadius.
With the results of 2 ceramic workshops volcano KILN summer holiday will end with a warm and glowing sign. The cones on the ceramic kilns will glow in the twilight and beginning darkness and shall give their warmth to all the people around, like the sun in summertime.
It is a symbol of summer heath and light; to take into the dark and cold wintertime and keep the warm feelings of summer; to look forwards to the next summer.
Through this event the last weekend of summer holiday will be a special moment to remember.
The Dutch ceramist Margreet Huisman uses experimental kiln techniques to fire the green ware.
She works within the scope of the EU-project ART ENLARGES THE AREA to investigate new ways of art education. Her ideas are intended to look after ways of working, useful for temporary kilns and useful for teachers.
This experiment is a good moment to visualize the effects of the EU-project and give attention to the different parts of it.
Jyrki Myllyvirta, the mayor from Mikkeli will give attention to this special moment and to the intention of the project. Mikkeli Kaupunki is very interested in the development of the art centre and the results of the plans for Haukivuori.
Now Haukivuori at the end of the year will be a part of Mikkeli, they can be active in the promotion and support of this new part of the city.
The Dutch artist Vincent Huisman will play and show how to play on a didgeridoo. The sound of this instrument is very deep and really like an archetype of music. The deep sound will go together with the glow of the kilns and give an authentic atmosphere on Saksalanharju.
It is also possible for people to try to play by themselves on all kind of pipes and tubes.
The evening ends at 00.00
