ART ENLARGES THE AREA experts

RIITTA MOISANDER -FINLAND
Riitta Moisander is secretary-general of
Etelä-Savon
Taidetoimikunta (Arts Council Etelä-Savo) in Mikkeli. She is very active in
different fields of art and art education. As the chairman of the supervisor
group in the EU-project ART ENLARGES THE AREA, she is extremely involved with the
development of this project.
Her expertise is very important for the content of different parts in the
project. Together with Arts Council Etelä Savo an important art network can
be build up.
An international art education centre with a lot of expertise is growing in art
centre Saksala ArtRadius and in cooperation with Arts Council Etelä Savo
national and international (art) teachers can have profit from this professional
source of information.
The first plan is to develop the art education program for secondary and
upper-secondary schools in the region of Mikkeli.
The
Manager of education services Heikki Hirvonen from Mikkeli City is promoting
the idea to build up professional ongoing art education for teachers in the
Mikkeli region.
With a pilot group of (art) teachers of primary and secondary schools the
content of the art education curriculum is growing.
With international symposiums Arts Council Etelä Savo will expand the
theoretical and practical knowledge from teachers. Different international
experts, like people from
Reggio Emilia Italy
and the AllaprimA Foundation
the Netherlands are coming to work with the teachers and children and
develop the ideas about art education in (primary) schools.
The first symposium has been in July 2007. The art education
department of art centre Saksala ArtRadius is involved in this symposium.
