art projects - CITY IN A BOX
The Pro Jugendstil Art Foundation (Hungary), in contribution with AREFS taide ja
kulttuuri ry (Finland), Gradska Radionica (Croatia), Silat Wassel (Lebanon),
Al-Phoenix (Palestine) and the Oyoun Masr Association (Egypt) organizes the
project “City in a Box”.
This is a traveling exhibition and a conference. The exhibition is going to be
held in all participating countries, between the 1st of February and the 31st of
July. The topic of the artworks is “The cultural diversity of your city”. Our
main idea is to start an international conversation through the language of
visual arts about the diversity, the coexistence of different nations and
cultures in one city in the Euro-Mediterranean region. The only restriction to
the works is that they have to fit into a shoe-box.
From every country there are two artists selected, a male and a female, this
will show how the two genders face the same problems, how they experience the
same society.
The closing conference will give the possibility to the artist to meet and
experience a new city together. At the same time art professionals and civil
organizations will be able to share their experiences and knowledge about the
tendency of multiculturalism in big cities around the world.
Finnish artists can apply by sending an email to
info@arefs.org with the subject "CITY IN A BOX".
The project is an initiative of "PRO JUGENDSTIL ART FOUNDATION" - Hungary, in
cooperation with AREFS taide ja kulttuuri ry(Finland), Gradska Radionica
(Croatia), Silat Wassel (Lebanon), Al-Phoenix (Palestine) and the Oyoun Masr
Association (Egypt)
