I am planning to do an independent film (90min) about the historical events of the Finnish Russian winter war and the contemporary traces, it might have left. As well as the resulting present relations between Russia, Finland and Norway in the region around the Barentsea and the city of Murmansk.

The film is not going to be a plain documentary, but taking an artists position, which is showing past events reappear within today’s circumstances and generally states a non-linear time frame, where the present overlaps the past and the other way around.

According to the subject matter it has been becoming a quite complex project, which probably will take all together over a year to finish.

However, a stay of three month at Saksala would be very helpful for me to foster the research at location and to produce a short version (20min) of the final film-project, which will give an atmospheric introduction to the subject matter and might as well be shown as work by itself in the context of international art-institutions. Where else the resulting final film project is mending to be in the right format to possibly be broadcasted on television or at least within the realms of independent cinema and international film festivals

I have been working in between the lines of art and cinema for the past years, and the combination of the two fields in this way makes a lot of sense to me.
