Claire Watson is the curator at Gippsland Art Gallery in Victoria, Australia:
www.wellington.vic.gov.au/gallery. Born in 1977, Claire has considerable experience in curating collaborative projects across distance. Recently, she was awarded an arts grant for a collaborative project titled “Hockey Plot: Negotiations between contemporary artists from Gippsland and Melbourne.” Hockey Plot (previously titled Interspacing) will tour three galleries in Melbourne and regional Victoria. Metropolitan artists were paired up with rural based artists to create new collaborative work. The project secured funding from Arts Victoria, Next Wave and Can Inc.
Claire has a 1st class Honours in Fine Art and a Graduate Certificate in Public Art, both from RMIT University. She is currently a Master Candidate at Monash University in Fine Art. She has exhibited projects in the snowy slopes of Victoria, in derelict buildings and on the shores of the Black Sea in Turkey. She is currently an artist-in residence at Saksala ArtRadius.
