Sometime I have to close my eyes to see. Sometimes I have to communicate
outside of words and letters to be able to understand. This is a paradox
that Woo-Bock Lee explores.
Her works are objects of meditation. Wisdom beyond words and tenderness
beyond time.
A 'perpetuum mobile' of synthesis and transformation.
Hand crafted calligraphy. Hands turned the pages of the old scholl books.
Woo-Bock Lee's hands are continuously transforming these books into paper
threads by which her spiritual message are woven. Every fibre of the paper is
recreated into a new life.
Finely tuned messages beyond words formed by words.
Solitary pieces directly from sender to recipient.
Woo-Bock Lee's emotional communication is like the free flow of water underneath
the bridges she is building between east and west, between yesterday, today and
tomorrow.
Sensitively she balances the free hand calligraphy with strict geometry, the
structured net and the living paper, the completeness of the circle versus
unfinished continuance, yin and yang in never-ending improvisations on the
theme.
