To prepare this
workshop with the students the art teacher Anna Toljamo has informed
them and asked to bring images with them about something/someone they
want to have with them in the class.
She has made copies of the photographs and this is the basic material to
start with the idea: who is sitting next to me?
In her introduction Jolanda explained how she got the idea to work in
this way and what the students can do with their own images they have.
Crumple the image makes it more soft and better to use for sewing and
also for painting.
Collect different materials which fit to the image, the character or
idea of the work.
Look at the back side of the work that can be the opposite of the front
side, like: dark - light, hard - soft, colorful - monochrome.
Use unexpected elements in the work by looking all the time, threads
hanging out, tears in the paper.
