The exhibition with the paintings and drawings of Jean-Christophe Piette is present in 3 rooms of the AllaprimA MuseuM of art centre Saksala ArtRadius during August 1-31 2008. A permanent wall painting is created in the corridor of the art centre.
The works in the basement are painted drawings based on the simple forms to see in stones. The result of the used line is a various elementary form related to rock paintings of the past. Every ‘kivi’ is individual and personal portrayed and exists by the strong line in contrast with the background. The ‘big kivi’ on fabric is monumental and is attracting attention from all directions.
All the works are two dimensional through the way the material is used. The solid colored line is the power and the form is the result of the movement of the line in an also solid colored background.
The elementary forms and the solid colors are connecting the contemporary works with the imaginations of early human history and with the strong first expressions in childhood.
The works in the first floor room are related to general used images. The technique is more various and is depending on the purpose of the image. Through this various use of techniques the chosen motives are getting their new identity and are applying for serious attention to see what can be the meaning for the one who considers it.
In the wall painting the daily life motive of the Finnish Elovena brand and the alphabet are combined with signs of war and terror. It seams to be a confrontation and it is appealing for a personal reply of the serious observer. The work is two dimensional but shows many layers of meanings.
It is the strength of work of Jean-Christophe; through the simple form in an unexpected environment it makes an appeal to a personal choice.
