collecting materials to build the paper kilns, metal grate, stones, wood and clay
The material to build up a paper kiln can be found in the the environment.
The metal for the grate and stones for the kiln were found by a local
farmer, the wood we get from
Kyyveden Saha.
The ceramist Paula
Ruuttunen was able to offer the used clay to make the clay mud for the
paper cone.

-wooden slats around the pots
-glossy magazine paper and clay mud in many layers around the wooden slats
-start to burn with the carbon
-filling the kiln with wood
-lower the grate step by step
-close the kiln to high the temperature of the fire
-feed the fire with wood by the
openings in the basement
-the temperature will rise up to 1000º in the
cone
-at the end the kiln can be closed so the fire give the heat to the pots
-the cone start to glow from the top and looks transparent in the darkness
-after about 16 hours the kiln can be opened to see the results
-it depends on the clay, the temperature, the place in the kiln and the
additions how the color of the clay looks like
