The environment in which a child grows up is the area where their
roots are embedded.
It is part of their memory, their reference and the base from which they
start to explore the world.
Smell, color, sound and climate/atmosphere are guiding the first
impressions of a child, which contribute to the unique individual
footprint of a person.
An overview of all the art works of this class can be seen on the next
page. |

During their visit of art centre Saksala ArtRadius the students of
the 8 class have visited the exhibition Suomen Maisema of the Dutch
artist Ilse van den Berk. They could see how a foreigner looks after
their common environment and what kind of details the artist has
registered.
In different groups they also visited the CHILDREN'S LABYRINTH and there
they have made drawings of the way through that part of the LABYRINTH.
The map should show the route and also the different art works which are
installed during the CHILDREN'S LABYRINTH symposium in May 2010.
Later in the class room they start to make sketches of their own
environment and also from details of objects as they were around them.
To inform them about (new) possibilities they got pictures from
landscapes in other countries and also art works of Ilse van den Berk
and Marja de Jong.

Every student has made photographic images from their environment, at school or
at home. These images are reduced in contrast and transferred in
grayscale.
